Molly Narrod, Rush University College of Nursing. Molly proposes to work with youth experiencing homelessness at La Casa Norte in a community group setting. The major focus of the group meetings is to provide mental health promotion activities and serve as an outlet for social support, self-empowerment, and community leadership. The group activities will provide education on mental health promotion, starting with a focus on activities that encourage self-expression. These activities will encourage self-care and help to grow participants’ social support networks. Molly seeks to raise $500 for supplies (paint, disposable cameras, notebooks) and $500 for group supplies (food, ventra cards to help participants get to group).

The Schweitzer Fellowship is a year-long service learning program for graduate students in health-related professions who will design and implement innovative direct service projects aimed at improving the health and well-being of underserved Chicago area communities. Through their community projects and participation in a year-long program that includes mentoring support, monthly meetings, written reflection, and interprofessional collaboration, Schweitzer Fellows are developing the skills and confidence needed to become Leaders in Service—professionals who will remain dedicated to public service and to creating change.

In the summer of 2018, the Schweitzer Fellows for Life network launched Fellows Fest 2018, a campaign to help support our current Fellows' projects.
